Grad Recruitment Programmes

With final exams on the horizon, the next step for many students who have not already secured a graduate role will be researching graduate recruitment programmes. This issue is also likely to be on the mind of many penultimate year students who wish to get a head start on looking into possible roles after their final year.

The GradIreland Recruitment Awards were on recently in Dublin and the list of winners provides an excellent starting point for students looking at the various graduate programmes available. There are numerous awards across various sectors giving a good spread of alternatives and those of you who are prospective trainee accountants will notice the strong presence of the accounting firms among the award winners, including the overall winner of Graduate Employer of the Year (KPMG).

There are now a lot of well established and regarded graduate programmes available to students and it is important when researching that you ensure the company you are considering has a formal training and development programme in place (perhaps it could be one of your questions for the interviewer). This will ensure you get the most out of your first role and you avoid ending up in a role where there is an ad hoc approach to developing your skills and experience.
